About UsThe Sackville Photography Club was established in 1988 to bring all different types of photographers together to share their information, experience and knowledge in all aspects of photography. As a Photography Club, we strive to promote photography as an enjoyable hobby and a vehicle to develop and grow as we bring people together with a common goal. The Sackville Photography Club meets on the first and third Wednesday of every month, from September to June. Although we do not officially meet at Acadia Hall in July and August, we usually have a few field trips during the summer; members will be notified by email and/or via website. We meet at Acadia Hall ( 650 Sackville Drive ) next to The Sackville Public Library. The doors open at 7:00 pm. and the meeting starts promptly at 7:30 pm. (Winter - doors open at 6:30 pm and the meeting starts at 7pm) - Regular hours now in effect. The Club publishes a newsletter, 'The Image Maker', with upcoming workshops and field trips. It also includes photo tips, stories, and reports from past events. Though we are called The Sackville Photography Club, our members come from all over Nova Scotia. We WELCOME all that love PHOTOGRAPHY! All ages welcome. ______________________________________________________________________________ Want To See What We Are About ?Guests are welcome to enjoy two consecutive club meetings in order to see what we are all about and to decide whether to join the Club. Thereafter, guests attending ANY subsequent meetings will be expected to join as full members at the regular membership fee (see below). This will exclude 'normal' guests who turn up specifically to check out the Club for the possibility of becoming a new member.- Membership ---- Annual Membership: $30.00Membership due: September 09 -- Please read carefully. Over the course of the year we have our regular meetings but also outings, photographic competitions, a fall exhibit and more. Below, will give you more detail as to some of what we do. Club ShowcaseMembers' nights are your nights; this is your chance to share your work. Critique evenings provide an opportunity to learn from the comments of other members. On Presentation evenings you describe what you sought to capture in your images.
All members are welcome to bring in their
prints or
digital presentations. Each member is given a 10 minute max time,
which includes commentary, to present their work. (any topic) This evening
is, however, on a first come first serve basis. You are asked to contact
the Club Showcase co-coordinator to have your name added to the list for the
evening. Club Showcase Nights can have between (6- 8 presentations), 10
minute in length and then a 15 minute break. Once the evening has been
filled, the list will be carried over to the next Club Showcase
Night.
Theme NightTheme night is one 10-15 minute presentation that the club showcase person compiles together from various members images. Each member is asked to email 1-5 images that they feel best describes the theme. Once all the images have been submitted, the co-coordinator will then put the presentation together and bring it to the club. This Theme presentation is usually shown after the evening event as an added feature. Photo GalleryWe have a photo Gallery for our members to display their photos.
